Becoming an au pair for the third time was never something I initially planned, but it has become a very meaningful part of my life. I completed my training as a tourism clerk for private and business customers, but due to the impact of COVID, there were limited opportunities in my profession. As I had already worked for over seven years with children as a children’s and youth gymnastics coach, I decided to become an au pair. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed it and even extended my au pair stay in the United States. After returning to Germany, I knew how much I missed this lifestyle, which led me to become an au pair in New Zealand. Now, I would like to become an au pair one final time. For me, being an au pair is much more than just a job it is about being part of a family, supporting children in their daily lives, and experiencing a true cultural exchange.”
