- Come home on time
- Pay your nanny on time
- If she is ill, arrange for substitute childcare
- Listen to her concerns about the children
- Respect her free time and privacy
- Ask her for feedback about her job and the children
- Leave
her enough money to cover the costs of outings with the children (for
public transportation or gas, lunch, admission fees etc.)
- Give her advance notice when you want her to baby-sit after hours
- Keep close contact when you are away on business
- Be supportive of your nanny when your children are around
- Provide regular raises
- Do not expect free babysitting or overtime
- Avoid involving your nanny in family arguments
- Accommodate reasonable requests for time off for doctor appointments
- Allow for time off for other important appointments (visits to the immigration department, etc.)
- Stick to the terms of the contract
- Make sure that you and your partner are issuing the same instructions
- Help your nanny with red tape, such as work permits, signing up for courses, etc.
- Trust her judgement
- NEVER EVER criticize your nanny in front of your children
- DO NOT TREAT HER SUBSERVIENTLY
